Five of the Best Foods for Perimenopause

Food has the power to heal. With the right diet and exercise plan, you can overcome many of the ailments that plague our culture today.

Treating severe perimenopausal symptoms is no different. You'll find a number of foods that can help treat your body and balance your hormones without the help of synthetic drugs.

Below is my list of the top five best foods for perimenopause.

Top Five Best Foods for Perimenopause

# 1. Salmon.

Salmon is rich in Omega 3 fats and protein, both of which are beneficial during your perimenopause years. Omega 3 not only helps manage those nasty hot flashes it also boosts your mood and supports brain health. The protein from fish and meat increases progesterone production in the body, balancing your hormones.

Try to avoid Atlantic farm-raised salmon as it contains PCB's and other chemicals. Wild Pacific or organic salmon is your best bet and provides the most benefits.

# 2. Flax.

Also rich in omega 3 fats and protein as well as fiber and antioxidants, flax helps alleviate gut issues and fights estrogen dominance.

Flax also contains something called lignans. Lignans are a type of phytoestrogen that has the power to block the xenoestrogens found in our environment. These xenoestrogen toxins contribute to estrogen dominance and aggravate your perimenopause symptoms. Lignans also help balance overall estrogen levels in your body and are great for breast health.

Add flax seed oil as a dressing to your salad and sprinkle ground or whole flax seeds into your yogurt, smoothies, granola or salads.

# 3. Broccoli.

Broccoli, and other cruciferous vegetables like kale, cabbage, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts contain a phytonutrient called indole 3 carbinol- (or I3C). Studies are still being done on I3C but researchers think that it may help ward off cancer. I3C also promotes liver detoxification and assists the body in burning fat. Because it helps block toxic estrogen found in our environment, I3C can promote hormone balance in the body.

But there are still other benefits found in adding more broccoli to your diet. Broccoli, along with broccoli seeds, fenugreek, cauliflower and fresh parsley, help decrease the amount of aromatase in the body. Aromatase is an enzyme, if in excess, that can produce too much estrogen in the body. Eating aromatase inhibitors like broccoli can help reduce estrogen dominance and alleviate severe perimenopause symptoms.

Eat broccoli and other cruciferous veggies raw, lightly steamed or fermented. You can also find a good quality I3C supplement to take.

# 4. Eggs.

Egg yolks specifically are rich in healthy fats and protein- everything you need to promote progesterone and DHEA production in the body.

Do not believe the idea that eating fat will make you fat. The opposite is actually true. Healthy fats boost your metabolism and help you to feel satiated for longer periods. Sugar, trans fats and hydrogenated oils are your real enemies in weight loss. If you're looking to shed a few pounds, avoid those foods at all cost.

The fats and saturated fats found in eggs help build cell membranes, reduce infection and assist the body in hormone production. Exactly what you need during your perimenopause years.

# 5. Pomegranates.

A powerhouse when it comes to fighting estrogen dominance, pomegranate seeds can block toxic estrogen in the body by up to 80%. Also great for breast health, pomegranates can prevent certain types of breast cancer cells from multiplying. Add them to your yogurt and smoothies.

Post-Partum Symptoms Arising From the Human Energy Field

Of all the energy healing agents I've worked with since the 1980s, my postpartum women are some of the closest and dearest to me. I think this is because, once they can return home feeling better, the lives of the little ones that depend so directly on them are also made better, not to mention the rest of their families.

Most had C-sections, which has become “the way to birth” these days. For convenience, I suppose, but history will have to tell whether it's a good trade-off or not.

When I started working with the human bio-field, C-sections were mostly a long vertical cut down the center of the belly. This was the cut that “Miranda” had when she came in to see me. Actually, she was kind of dragged in by her friend and was a total wreck.

The friend told me that since the baby was born, Miranda had been plagued with terrible fears that she would drop her baby. She began avoiding picking up her little girl for fear she could not hold on without dropping her.

She was prescribed antidepressants and anti-anxiety meds, but unfortunately felt that it might make things worse and did not take them. When I scanned the bio-field around her abdomen, it became clear to me why Miranda was feeling the way she did.

There was a huge opening in the field around the belly which indicates that, while the body itself heals over the surgical site, the bio-field does not always follow, and it stays open, unhealed.

There are different ways an opening in the field can feel to me. In Miranda's case, the energy flow around her belly felt like it was rushing out and in a downward motion. It made perfect sense to me why she felt the way she did. Life energy from where she had carried her baby internally was now “falling down” and away from her. That was the condition in her bio-field that she was picking up on and interpreting as fear of dropping her baby.

This is a primary principle to understand when dealing with the human energy field or bio-field. (It's also called the aura, the electromagnetic field and, most accurately, the morphogenetic field.) The body communicates with the bio-field and the bio-field communicates with the body.

The subtle energy of the bio-field interacts with and informs the physically denser body. This has been researched and documented extensively in the late 20th Century but has yet to be incorporated into medical curriculum, so it is not yet acknowledged by doctors.

It was no wonder to me that on some minor level Miranda “knew” that she would drop her baby because that's what the bio-field around her was telling her.

“Sue” had a different postpartum experience. She was constantly exhausted, like Miranda, but also felt she could not 'connect' with her body or with her baby. She started antidepressants but felt the were not 'fixing' the problem. And they were not because the problem was not biochemical. It was bio-energetic.

Sue's C-section was the newer 'smile' cut under the bikini line. Like Miranda, Sue's incision had healed over but unlike Miranda, her bio-field also was healed over, just the way we'd expect all incisions, all wounds, to heal. So we had to search for other areas where the field might not have healed.

We found that Sue's energy was leaking out of the sit where her IV had been inserted. It was a “slow leak” but constant, and to Sue it felt like she could never get enough rest or take anything that would recharge her batteries and give her energy.

This is like some of the other moms I worked with that had regular childbirth experiences but who had either an epidural and / or episiotomy. These are also sites where the woman's energy can leak out and cause depression, exhaustion, anxiety, the lack of will to live or go on another day.

Sometimes this can even occur in childbirth without an epidural or episiotomy, especially with a difficult birth. The bio-field gets pushed out as the baby comes out and sometimes does not return to its normal place. With an opening or distortion in the bio-field around the first chakra or spiritual center (also called the root chakra), the will to live can simply drain away.

Another typical post-partum issue can be a lack of interest in sex, even a downright aversion to it. This is a subconscious response to protect or avoid the area of the body that feels vulnerable. Most of my post-partum women had some degree of sexual compromise. And this is true of all the symptoms – they can be mild or they can be extreme.

Finally, there was “Carol” which C-section left her bio-field partially open; but rather than her energy leaking or rushing out, Carol's unhealed bio-field felt like a vacuum that wanted to pull my hand into her body. It was like an open energetic “wound” that left her feeling vulnerable and fearful. She would have terrifying nightmares of being attacked or a victim of unidentifiable and frightening forces.

Carol was a nervous wreck and her baby was picking up on her distress. Everyone in the family was tense and anxious. And that was the condition of all my postpartum clients, their babies, and their families.

Carol was told that it was “all in her mind,” because everything “looked good”; she was prescribed a variety of medications. But it was not all in her mind. It was very real and these symptoms needed to be addressed on the level on which they occurred – in the human bio-field.

In every case, once we were able to identify the area in the bio-field that had not properly repaired after the birth, it quite took me more than one healing session to repair the energy field and witness the end of the very real, very disturbing symptoms. While invisible to us, the existence of the human energy field is proven, is real, and can be successfully restored to eliminate very real symptoms.

Have Your Periods Become Irregular?

While you may not be excited about menstruation, you tend to realize the importance of this cycle when, suddenly, it does not occur when it is provided to. Why do periods start earlier on some months, and later on others? Let's start by understanding how the menstrual cycle occurs.

The Regular Menstrual Cycle

During a woman's fertile life, follicles and eggs mature within the ovaries in a cycle that typically lasts 28 days. Every 28 days, about twenty eggs start to mature in fluid-filled sacs known as follicles. About 14 days into the menstrual cycle, only one follicle will release a mature egg for fertilization, while the rest of the follicles get absorbed by the body into the ovarian tissue. This process of releasing a mature egg is known as ovulation.

The empty follicle transforms into a corpus luteum, responsible for producing hormone progesterone crucial for pregnancy. If fertilization occurs, this hormonal support will continue through the pregnancy. If fertilization does not occur, the corpus luteum will wither, causing the uterus to shed its lining, resulting in the start of menstruation

The Irregular Menstrual Cycle

Having an irregular menstrual cycle means that the interval between periods varies each month. For example, sometimes your periods start every 20 days, sometimes they start every 30 days. The causes can range from hormonal fluctuations especially in adolescents and teens, pregnancy especially adults, or premature ovarian failure especially in women before the age of 40.

Other most common causes of irregular periods include:

  • Eating disorders
  • Over-exercising
  • Excess weight gain or loss
  • Stress or emotional problems
  • Hormonal problems
  • Breastfeeding
  • Medical drugs or birth-control pills
  • Travel

The ovary function starts to go downhill after women reach the age of 30. Premature ovarian failure is caused by a series of root problems. If ovarian function is poor, it can affect the secretion of female hormones, sexual function, skin and body measurements, causing facial hair, yellowish face, bloated body, vagina dryness and premature aging.

If ovary function deteriorates, it can result in:

  • Reproductive system: irregular menstruation, vaginal dryness, low ovulation
  • Reduced sex drive and sex life disruptions
  • Vegetative nervous system: hot flashes, irritability, depression, insomnia, etc
  • Physique changes: Weight gain, bloated belly, saggy hips, thick waist, etc
  • Skin and hair: dryness, loss of elasticity, hair loss, and reduced shine
  • Reduced immunity: infection or chronic diseases such as colds, infections
  • Cardiovascular system: the atherosclerosis, such as myocardial ischemia, myocardial infarction
  • Urinary system: contraction of the urinary tract, urinary frequency, urinary incontinence, etc
  • Bones: cervical spine diseases, rheumatism, arthritis, osteoporosis and so on
  • Digestive system: stomach discomfort, loss of appetite, constipation, etc.

Are you caring enough for your ovaries?

Many beauty salons offer ovary care massage treatments that may not be enough to treat your ovary health problem. This is because the essential oil can not penetrate deep enough into your body to reach your ovaries.

How To Prevent Ovarian Cancer

Are you suffering from persistent abdominal pains? Do you experience persistent abdominal swapping and pressure, sudden loss of appetite or increased appetite, frequent urination and urinary urgency?

If your answer is yes to all the questions, you should speak to your doctor immediately. These symptoms that often mimic digestive problems, could mean something more serious such as ovarian cancer. Let's start by understanding where it begins, the risks of developing ovarian cancer, and also actions you can take to prevent.

Ovarian cancer is a type of cancer that begins in the ovaries. The ovaries are small, lumpy, almond-shaped glands that sit just above the fallopian tubes – one ovary on each side of the uterus. Every month during ovulation, either one of the ovaries produces a single mature egg for fertilization. Despite the fifth most common cancer among women, the cause is still unknown to medical professionals. Instead, a woman may be at risk of developing ovarian cancer if she is / has:

• A postmenopausal women over the age of 45

• A non-breastfeeding-feeding women or infertile

• Consuming contraceptive pills

• Eating a high-fat, high-protein, high-calorie diet

• A family history of ovarian cancer, or a family history of breast cancer and non-polyposis colon cancer

In the initial stages, early symptoms are not obvious, just like the ordinary digestive symptoms, so they often get ignored. Tumor usually grows to a certain size and is usually found at the pelvic area. Ovarian cancer grows and spreads very fast, so women must pay attention to the prevention and treatment of it.

Women aged 25 and above should start to focus on ovarian maintenance, as it will not only help to maintain beauty and good body shape, but also health and the prevention of ovarian cancer, including a number of gynecological diseases and systemic diseases.

Endocrine disorders are actually combination disorders of three hormones secreted by the ovary, namely estrogen, progesterone, androgen. High estrogen levels cause fibroids and cysts, while low estrogen levels cause body deformation and osteoporosis. High progesterone causes uterine endometriosis, while low progesterone causes difficulty to conceive. High androgen causes female to have masculine features. In short, any hormonal imbalance will cause serious harm to the health and body.

Supplements can help to balance the endocrine, protect the ovary, reduce the risk of breast cancer, and prevent ovarian cancer. Women with gynecological diseases can be treated. Women without gynecological diseases can better nourish the ovary, prevent gynecological diseases, and delay menopause.

Why People Choose to Proceed With Egg Donation?

Women who own eggs do not result in a viable pregnancy choose this treatment. There are various reasons why a woman's own eggs can not be used:

  • Premature ovarian failure is a leading cause where women stop producing eggs at an early age. There are cases where women go into early menopause in their early 20s. Women suffering from premature ovarian failure can no longer produce healthy eggs that can lead to pregnancy.
  • Some women are born without ovaries, in which case the only possibility of having a baby is through egg donation.
  • Women who go through chemotherapy or radiotherapy which ovaries may have been damaged by the treatment may also need this procedure
  • Women who produce eggs but have genetic diseases could also choose egg donation to ensure healthy children.
  • Older women with diminished ovarian reserves or older women who are going through menopause could also become pregnant with egg donation.

Use of donated eggs results in a highly enhanced pregnancy rates in the region of 75% – 80%. This is due to the egg donors' proven fertility. Egg donors go through strict screening to ensure that the egg donation will be successful. Most egg donors are below the age of 30 with proven ovarian reserves. They are also screened for genetic diseases and a psychological examination is performed.

The donated eggs can either be provided by an egg donor or by the receiver couple's friends or family. Depending on the regulation of the country, it can be absolutely illegal (eg Italy, Germany) or the egg donors could be known or anonymous. In anonymous egg donation, the clinic matches the most suitable donor for the couple based on physical characteristics.

Egg donation is performed in a very similar way to normal IVF procedure except that the egg of a donor is used for fertilization. The fertilized egg (embryo) is then transferred to the female who else could not use her own eggs. The pregnancy then develops normally. This greatly enhances the probability of a successful pregnancy.

In addition to traditional couples, recently gay couples have begun to use this procedure and surrogacy to become parents. However, there are only very few countries in the world where allow this in their regulations.

With the huge improvement of success rates, egg donation has really become a great hope for couples wishing to have babies where the woman could otherwise not conceive.

Many Women Are Affected By Cellulite

Just under the skins surface lies that horrible looking fat known as cellulite. It makes dimples that are not at all attractive on the skin. Believe it or not this term has been around and used for over a hundred years. Other names for this condition includes cottage cheese skin and orange peel skin. When you look at the skin from cellulite it really does resemble those terms. Women are usually teenagers before it appears, while men usually will not be affected by it. As the woman gets older the cellulite chances will increase.

Some research blames hormones and not being overweight like we mostly think it is. No hormone cure though is available even though it is thought to be the cause of the condition. You can even find thin individuals with it and the same with overweight people. The condition is no way a signal of something wrong with the person, just the ugly appearance does affect people's pride. Cellulite shows up on the body at locations like the hips, thighs and buttocks. The problem affects women in different degrees. Some have a mild problem and others will be overwhelmed with it. For the average woman it is not a problem until she decides to wear short pants or go the beach in her bathing suit.

The Appearance Can Be Reduced

As I mentioned before, orange peel skin can affect a lot of women and really upsets those with the problem. Needless to say, cellulite needs to be eliminated. Liposuction has become the treatment of choice for many women. This procedure needs to be done by a specialized physician. They will use their equipment just like a vacuum and from benefit the skin suck out all the fat they can. It can take a few visits and a bit of money to get this performed. It has been noted by many that the suction causes the cottage cheese skin to actually look worse than before.

Many use a massage therapists to work on the orange peel appearance. These therapists will target the affected areas. You can also find a load of cosmetic companies that say they have a product to rid your thighs, hips and buttocks of cellulite. As with almost all products you will find individuals that will swear by one solution or the other. And then there are a few health professionals out there that like a low fat diet to be used against the fat.

Cellulite is not as hard to get rid of as a few will have you believe. Just as in losing weight where exercise is used so will it improve the overall condition. So long as you have the motivation to carry out the exercises, you will and can see noticeable results.

C-Sections Performed Unnecessarily Throughout the U.S.

One out of three babies is delivered by Cesarean section (C-section). This surgery involves making a long incision in the pregnant woman's abdomen, then in the uterus through which the baby is removed. C-sections exist to make delivery safer for women and babies when something interferees with vaginal delivery.

But concerns have emerged recently about the number of C-sections being performed in many hospitals throughout the country. Some researchers and practitioners are suspected that the procedure is being treated not as the emergency standby method it is meant to be, but as an elective prescribed willy-nilly. This is troublesome because there are C-section risks for mom and potentially for baby as well.

Three scenarios typically merit a C-section: 1) the baby is not properly positioned to be delivered vaginally; 2) the mother has had a C-section before; and 3) the placenta is blocking the cervix so that the baby can not come through. A new Consumer Reports rating report for over 1,500 hospitals across the country found that, in most hospitals, C-sections are often performed in situations that do not fit these guidelines.

For hospitals overall, Consumer Reports found that the C-section rate for “low-risk” deliveries was 18% – up from 12.6% in 2000 and amounting to more than half of the overall C-section rate of 33%. The rate varied drastically by hospital, ranging from less than 5% of low-risk deliveries at Saint Croix Regional Medical Center in Wisconsin to nearly 57% at Three Rivers Medical Center in Kentucky.

Conductors of the survey found no clear reason why rates of low-risk delivery C-sections varied so highly. Consumer Reports spoke with Doctor Elliot Main, who choked it up to the medical culture of the staff at various hospitals. Main suspects that some doctors are eager to get home rather than see a natural labor through, and he notes that it's very easy to convince a woman in labor to have a C-section. It is also possible that doctors honestly believe longer deliveries come with more risk and compliance, information which is likely outdated.

The top 10 highest- and low-rated hospitals, as well as the Consumer Reports article describing the survey, can be found at want-you-to-know-about-c-sections / index.htm . The full rating chart is available to subscribers.

Side Effects / Risks of C-Sections

• More regional pain for woman after birth (perineum and incision site especially)
• Longer recovery for mother
• Life-threatening complications, rare in any case, are 3 times more likely for women with low-risk deliveries receiving C-section than those undergo vaginalbirth
• Risks increase with each subsection C-section, and having one C-section increments the chance of having another one
• Abdominal adhesions, which can lead to pain and spread to organs in the abdomen, causing bowel obstruction
• Babies delivered vaginally are more likely to be breastfed
Babies born vaginally are less likely to have breathing problems

The Takeaway

A C-section may seem like a good short-cut, but it's a major surgery that should be used only when deemed necessary, not a convenient alternative to vaginal birth. To increase the chances of not receiving an unnecessary C-section, pregnant women may want to look into the Consumer Reports rating chart before choosing a hospital.

Bleeding After Menopause: Is It Possible?

Menopause signals the end of the menstrual cycle of ovulation and the binding that enterprises who most women refer to as the period. When a woman has made it 12 months with the absence of monthly bleeding, it is generally believed that menopause has been reached, but is it possible to continue bleeding after menopause? The answer is yes. Please continue reading to find out why some women have bleeding after the completion of menopause.

What to do if you experience post menopausal bleeding?

The first thing that you should do if you begin bleeding after menopause is to schedule an appointment with your health care provider. Do not wait for the bleeding to stop. There are many possible causes and only your health care provider can properly diagnose and recommend treatment for the cause of the bleeding.

Is cancer the only cause of post menopausal bleeding?

The most common reaction to unexpected vaginal bleeding after menopause is the dreaded “C” word. However; This is not always or even usually the case. There are many different possible causes for post menopausal vaginal bleeding which are not life threatening events. Although cancer can cause this symptom, it is generally something quite different. In the event that it is cervical or uterine cancer, catching the disease in stage 1 results in a 96% cure rate. This is why it's important to seek medical diagnosis immediately when you experience this unsettling symptom.

Non-cancerous causes of post menopausal bleeding

Endometrial hyperplasia – This is a condition that may result from an overabundance of estrogen and not enough progesterone. The lining of the uterus thickens and this may cause bleeding. This is more common in women who are obese. In addition, and with some patients, this condition can lead to endometrial cancer. It is not the case with all patients, however; those who have abnormal cells when tested for the condition, have a higher risk.

Polyps – Polyps are growths that may develop within the uterus, inside the cervical canal, or on the cervix. They are generally benign, or non-cancerous, and may cause vaginal bleeding after menopause .

Endometrial atrophy – This is a thinning of the endometrium, or tissue that lines the uterus. Due to the lessening of estrogen levels in the body, the endometrium may become much thinner and has the potential for bleeding due to the thinning.

Medication – Certain medications, such as blood thinners can cause post menopausal bleeding . Do not assume how; that these are the cause. Consult with your physician to make sure.

Infection – Infections in the cervix or uterus can also cause post menopausal bleeding.

Hormone therapy – Hormone therapy can also cause post bleeding after menopause. In addition to this, if the body ovulates, signally that menopause has not yet completed, this can also be a cause. Although more rare, it can happen.

Should I concern about post menopausal bleeding?

Any physical symptom out of the ordinary describs attention and should be investigated. Most often, bleeding after menopause is harmless. It can be a sign of a cancerous condition which can be frightening, so it pays to get medical attention right away and have this rule out. In addition, pre-catastrophic conditions may also cause vaginal bleeding after menopause . Catching this disease before it spreads results in a high success rate for treatment. The fear of contracting cancer is something that crosses the minds of most women experiencing this symptom, however; This is not generally the case, as only ten percent of women who experience post menopausal bleeding actually end up having cancer. There are more often, other causes responsible for the bleeding.

Women who experience bleeding after menopause should seek medical attention to identify the cause of this symptom. Most women will find that the bleeding is caused by conditions that are not life threatening, and highly treatable. Medication, hormones, infections, endometrial atrophy or polyps are some of the most common causes of post menopausal vaginal bleeding . For the ten percent who will test positive for pre-cancerous or cancer conditions, early detection of such conditions increase the odds of successful treatment. Some women may actually have bleeding due to ovulation because menopause has not fully completed. If you experience what you believe to be post menopausal bleeding, check with your health care provider to isolate the cause instead of waiting for the bleeding to stop or spending precious time worrying.

Revealed: Why Every Pregnant Woman Should Take This Prenatal Supplement

Pregnancy changes everything. No longer are you living just for yourself. You're now responsible for the new life inside of you as well. And just about everything you do affects that growing baby. When it comes to nutrition, this is especially true. You know – as you gently rub your growing belly – whatever you eat goes right to the child developing inside of you.

But what if no matter how carefully you eat, you're also passing onto your baby one of the world's deadliest toxins?

This could very well be the case. But Fortunately, new research demonstrates there may be an easy and natural way to protect both you and your baby.

You Do not Want Your Child To Have This Prenatal Food

A few years ago, women were horrified to find that careful careful diet choices, their breast milk contained traces of several environmental toxins including dioxin.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), dioxin is an extremely toxic chemical. It has been linked to cancer, reproductive problems and immune problems. It disrupted hormones and interferees with healthy fetal development. And it's found through our food supply – particularly in meat, dairy, eggs, and seafood.

No mother is safe from this contaminant. While dioxin levels in breast milk have been decreasing in studies conducted in the European Union, the WHO found dioxin to be present in breast milk worldwide.

However, there are some things you can do to help minimize dioxin creeping into your body and contaminating the food you pass on to your child.

Reduce Your Child's Prenatal And Postnatal Dioxin Exposure

First, you can eat less animal products. Dioxin is persistent, hard to metabolize and get rid of. It accumulates in animal fats. So the higher you eat up the food chain, the more dioxin you'll get.

In one study conducted in South Africa, researchers were surprised to find black women had lower levels of dioxin than white women. They realized that because white women tended to be in a higher income bracket, they also ate more meat, dairy and eggs. Black South African women tend to eat a diet higher in grains and vegetables with less animal products. Here, they consumed less dioxins in their diet. [1] Similarly, German women who were vegetarians had lower dioxin levels than German women who were not. [2]

Nonetheless, vegetarian women still find dioxin in their breast milk. And according to researchers, no level of dioxin is safe or healthy.

For that reason, all pregnant and breast-feeding women – both vegetarian and omnivore – should consider adding a special supplement to their prenatal vitamins … Chlorella.

New Research Shows Prenatal Supplementation with Chlorella Reduces Dioxin Levels

In Japan, dioxin is of particular concern due to the high consumption of seafood, much of which is contaminated with it.

Concerned about the levels of dioxin passing to newborn infants, a group of Japanese researchers undertook studying how chlorella may help pregnant women as a prenatal supplement. The researchers measured dioxin levels of 44 pregnant women, looking at their placenta, cord blood, breast milk, blood and fat. Then they divided the women into two groups. One of the groups started supplementing with chlorella while pregnant.

They found that the women who supplemented with chlorella had 30% less dioxin in their breast milk than the women who did not. And they had 26% less dioxin in their cord blood – the blood that flows between the mother and the baby via the umbilical cord. [3]

A second study yielded even more encouraging results …

Again a group of pregnant women was divided into two groups. Half of the women supplemented with 6 grams of chlorella each day for six months, starting during the 12th to 16th week of their pregnancy. They supplemented with chlorella at every meal.

In this study, not only did the women who took chlorella have close to 50% less dioxin and other contaminants in their breast milk compared to the control group, but they had an additional gift for their children. Their breast milk contained more of the antibody immunoglobulin A – a key part of an infants' developing immune system – than the breast milk of the women who did not supplement did. [4]

High in protein, chlorophyll, B vitamins, lutein and other essential vitamins and minerals, chlorella provides an amazing spectrum of nutrition for a growing baby. But as these studies demonstrate, its prenatal benefits may be even larger … As the researchers are finding, chlorella may help limit how much dioxin your body absorbs and help your body excrete it faster. And as a result, your baby will be exposed to less dioxin, too.

Protect Your Baby From Dioxin With Chlorella

After some debate, experts generally conclude women should continue to breastfeed their children even if their breast milk is contaminated with dioxin. Health experts agree breast milk's nutritional and immunological benefits far outweigh the potential downsides of dioxin contamination.

But now you do not have to settle for such a compromise when it comes to your baby's health. As these studies demonstrate, chlorella can help your body get rid of dioxin and other pollutants you do not want inside of you or your baby. Why An Untreated Yeast Infection Can Be Dangerous

A yeast infection left untreated can cause a few problems with one's health. Some researchers and caregivers believe that the infection will go away on its own without treatment; however, if the infection is left untreated, the symptoms will get drastically worse. It is important to keep in mind that every human body is different, so if you have an already weakened immune system or are prone to other infections, an untreated yeast infection can exacerbate illnesses. The itching can become unbearable and people have actually cut themselves by scratching the area too much, causing more pain, burning and even scarring.

Other problems that could arise from not treating a yeast infection include major impairment of your immune system, headaches, mood swings, oral thrush, gastrointestinal problems, and fatigue. Yeast infection symptoms can often recur early signs of more serious bacterial infections, so if home treatment does not alleviate yeast symptoms, it's important to seek medical help immediately.

These symptoms can be present in both men and women:

  • Thick, white liquid discharge from the genital area that can be foul smelling
  • Itching, soreness, and redness in the area
  • White spots or lesions in the genital area
  • Painful or uncomfortable intercourse.

Treatments for Yeast Infection

You will want to treat the yeast infection right at the onset of symptoms. There are some easy ways to treat a yeast infection at home, and even to prevent them in order to avoid these potential issues. Home treatments include over-the-counter antifungal creams such as Monistat. Men can use this as well, but men should add a drop or two of white vinegar to each application. Try bathing in warm water up to the hips with about 2 cups of apple cider vinegar. Women can dip a clean tampon in probiotic plain yogurt and insert into the vagina for about an hour. For both sexes, abstaining from intercourse during the infection is important so as not to pass the infection back and forth.

It is safe to assume that prevention is the best way to treat any condition. Yeast infections can be incredibly uncomfortable and embarrassing to deal with. Yeast is a fungus that thrives in moist, warm environments, so be sure to keep yourself dry and frequently aired out. That means going without underwear for some portion of the day such as overnight, for example.

Drink more water and eat more probiotic yogurts and leafy green vegetables. These simple changes in diet will go a long way in keeping your system clean of fungus and toxins. The body is supposed to carry good bacteria, such as those found in probiotics, but infections occur when their bacteria growth gets out of control, so be sure not to “feed” the fungus and bacteria with high-sugar and processed foods.

Do not let your yeast infection go untreated!
